Committe Meeting - 11th October 2021
The following in,formation has been extracted from the minutes of the committee meeting recently held, to give an overview of what GMCPA is currently doing and proposals for 2022.

1 - Region Two County Fixtures for 2021
Agreed that the return match for 2021 via Merseyside would be 21st November, full details who would be available showed we have enough Mens Squad players and at least 9 Senior Squad players.  A number of players would not be available for this match but they did attend the home fixture and would be available for national finals.  GMC will be seeking clarification from Region Two that GMC Mens A & B teams plus seniors will be allowed to represent the Region at the English Pool Association (EPA) County finals in March 2022.
GMC ladies requested that the county contact the Region to ask for consideration for GMC ladies to be allowed to compete at the EPA County on the basis that GMC Ladies were prepared to compete in the Regional fixtures but had no opposition to play against.

2 - Players registered for each squad as of October 2021
Full details of all players registered as county level for GMC for current season 2021 were disclosed.  Agreed that all players who play in at least One of the fixtures against Merseyside would be retained for Season 2022, this to be for Mens and Seniors. With no other county willing to compete against GMC Ladies in 2021, it was agreed that all 15 registered GMC ladies in 2021 would be retained for Season 2022.

3 - Mens/Seniors/Ladies 2022 county squad trials
Trials for County Squads playing for GMC in Regional Two county set-up would be played at Savanna Club on Sunday 23rd January 2022.
Full details of how to register for the trials for all GMC based players who are not in the retained list from last year will be circulated end of November.

4 - Super Five’s GMC County League Team Event
There has not been a lot of support from teams within our leagues for this event to actioned. Agreed to cancel for the present and introduce in future.

5 - GMC Champion of Champions 2022
Agreed to introduce a new event for the Champions and leading teams from leagues within GMC and would be circulated later in the year. This would allow each member league to have up to 4 teams in the championships plus there would also be an invite for the last 4 players from the leagues Singles Finals.
Event would take place later in 2022, subject to our finding out the details of fixtures for each league, which may have changed from previous years due to the complication of the virus. Sponsorship has already been found for a prize fund for this event which would be free to enter for any league registered with GMC County for 2022.

6 - GMC Seniors Open Tour 2022
Following our outstanding success with the Seniors for 2021 which was sold out to 48 entries, it was decided to increase the number for 2022 to 64 entries.
The event will be open to any senior, with players from GMC area given preference, subject to payment of entry fee. Prize fund to be £10,800.

7 - GMC Mens Open Tour 2022
GMC County will also introduce a Mens Open Tour for next year, which will have Prize fund of £10,800, spread over 4 single day event dates.  Entry restricted to 64 players with GMC registered players given preference.  This is intended to be an amateur level competition.

8 - Report from last Region Two Meeting
The counties of Region Two will be finalising the fixtures for Season 2022 during the coming month. They will be receiving details from the EPA as to the national events for 2022 which are already shown on EPA Website.
For one year only, the Under 18’s will become Under 20’s and the Under 23’s will become Under 25’s.  This is to cover for the lack of activity during 2021 which was affected by the Virus situation.
It looks very promising that we will all be back on track for 2022.

9 - EPA Update from National Meetings and AGM
Full minutes of the above have been circulated but there is still a lot of details of how the national will operate in 2002 to be decided.
It is understand that the European and World venues for 2022 are to be Ireland.
Details of the format of teams and trials have not yet been received from EPA.

10 - GMC County Pool A.G.M.  -  Sunday 9th January 2022
Full details and agenda plus how to place Proposals and Committee positions for 2022 will be forwarded in November. All positions on the GMC committee will be available to all members of registered leagues to the county.
Following a very difficult year in 2021 and as Chairman I would like to thank all who have contributed to our count organisation during the past year.  We are only one of two counties who have played county pool during the past year and also have introduced new events for our membership.  There is a long way to go during 2022 to ensure that GMC Pool develops to its full potential as one of the leading counties in the country. We need everyone to be working for GMC.

MATCH REPORT FROM GMC V WEST YORKSHIRE ON SUNDAY 8th MARCH 2020

The A team started the 2020 county pool season with a hard fought 23-21 victory over their close rivals West Yorkshire A.

With their 3 new signings JJ Faul, Sanjay Patel and Aiden Hughes all playing well and winning their first frames with some dazzling pool, GMC A raced into a 9-2 lead after the first session and threatened to run away with the match.
West Yorks A fought back well and at one stage .......... read the full report

MANCHESTER GREATER AGAIN.
Congratulations to the Mens “A” and “B” squads for an excellent 2019 season with both teams finishing as runners up in the Regional Inter-County tables. For the first time in several years the Mens “A” and Mens “B” will be going to Yarmouth in February to represent the region at the National Finals.
The seniors’ team have missed out at this years finals but will return in the near future, their squad is one of the strongest in the country, having won the nationals in recent times.
Ladies have shown a major move forward winning 4 games during 2019 with a final spot of 5th place although achieving the same points total as the 3rd/4th teams.

All of our county sides had impressive wins in the last regional matches of the 2019 season which is very promising for further progress by our county teams in the 2020 season.  Trials for new players and those not retained from this season will be in February.
The GMC Pool executive committee would like to thank all involved with our inter-county teams during the past season for their support and the excellent results achieved by the players.

COUNTY MATCH REPORTS VERSUS MERSEYSIDE DECEMBER 2019
Qualified for the National Intercounty finals in Yarmouth for the first time in over 10 years with an impressive 26-18 victory.
Having lost the first session, the team fought back well under pressure to achieve a great team win and gain the 3 points needed to put them into 2nd place in the Regional 2 inter-county “A” rankings with a place in the Nationals Finals.
Team vice captain Steve Mak won 3 out of 4 games to finish the season as GMC’s Number 1 ranked player, also qualifying for a place in the Finals which decide places for the National Team.
Also excellent performances from Sam Reynolds, Steve Witkiewicz, Lee Bradley and Mark Beeson with 3 wins out of 4
Player of the Match was England Star Aaron Davies with 4 wins.

“B” TEAM REPORT.
Best performance of the 2019 season with an 36-8 win which put the squad into 2nd place in the Regional Inter-County rankings, earning the team a place in the National Finals at Great Yarmouth.
Maximum wins 4 out of 4 for Rob Hillyard, Gareth Owen, Steve Brewis & Ian McMullan.
Player of Match Andy Smithies with back to back 8 ball clearances.
Team always in charge with wins in each of the 4 sessions which gave the team 3 points required to send the “B” squad to the National finals. A great performance to end the season for the team.

SENIORS TEAM REPORT.
Another good performance with a 21-14 success in the final match.  Team ended up in 3rd spot in the regional tables which are one of the strongest sections in the country.  Disappointing final position after the teams performance the previous season ending on top without losing a match.
Player of Match was Alan Haydon winning all 5 games.
Alan along with Ian Sutton and Farat Buta have secured England Team trials and may be joined by other of our GMC squad depending on the final tables after this months matches.

LADIES TEAM REPORT.
Performance of the year with a 23-21 win against a very good Lancs. “B” ladies team.  Started off slowly in 1st session but picked up momentum to be only 2 frames behind by half way point.
Won 6 frames on the bounce to take the lead and continued a great comeback into the home stretch to achieve a great win, our 4th of the season.  Four of our players had 3 wins from 4 with Rachel Sherratt the GMA Player of the Match.
Well done to Chloe Smithies and Marie Cosgrove who ended as joint 1st for the season on equal points, Marie having played 2 less frames.
